Wikipedia has a lengthy discussion on footnotes/citations/endnotes/annotations that starts on [1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Footnotes). There are several ideas floating around there. I tested several out and decided I liked the version I posted here, though you may find something else you like better. (Note that the Tub's Template:An is based on Wikipedia's Template:Fn, not on Wikipedia's Template:An - sorry for that bit of sloppiness on my part.)
