  • Notable as the birthplace of La Ligue du Masque Cancéreux in 1667.
  • The 17th C. witnessed the incremental arrival of a secret society called the AA (Associatio Amicorum), in which members of the clergy and academies joined together to preach a renewed and vigorous catholic faith. The influence of this organization became particularly strong during the 18th C.
